A mild-mannered British psychiatrist, Dr. Noctis' first priority is to her patients. She is, without a doubt, the 'good doctor.' With her specialty in forensics, Lilith works alongside the exceptional Emelia Blackburne as DC Metro PD's criminal behavior consultant. Yet, Lilith's human facade is built upon manufactured half-truths. The evil that lies beneath is a singular misstep from being revealed to the world around her. When a string of odd occurrences leads Detective Blackburne far too close to Lilith's secret world, she has to choose between her safety and Blackburne's. Fear is Lilith's vice, but the brunette with the emerald green eyes has become her addiction. --- Paperback copy now available at mstarauthor.com!
This novella is a beautifully done combo of horror, crime fiction, fantasy, and romance. The story immediately pulled me in, I was at the edge of my seat waiting to learn more about Lilith and her lore. She is such a badass FMC, think Dexter but if Dexter were a girls girl (and a mythological creature). She’s also incredibly funny, I adore her dry and dark sense of humor. There is just as much action, suspense, and twists as there is romance, and this couple had me swooning. Lilith and Emelia are the perfect hurt/comfort trope. They both have their own strengths, but we also get to see vulnerability from each of them. I need the next book in the series immediately!

AHBOE is what you would get if Hannibal, Criminal Minds and Lost Girl had a love child. Imagine a hot, lesbian version of Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal and now make her supernatural and boom, you’ve got Lilith. Pair her up with Prentiss from Criminal Minds and that’s your Emilia and I simply could not get enough 🥵!
This novella has everything, mythological creatures, a crime thriller esq plot, hot lesbian MC’s with an even hotter lesbian awakening. I don’t want to give anything away, but what I will say is, go read this damn book. It’s like a 2 hour read that you defiantly won’t want to miss.
I’m off to dream about Lilith and her terrifying mare forms 🥵
