Built for the community.

What We Do

We are a storytelling platform and publisher built entirely around women-loving-women—from community stories to professional releases, all in one place. For readers, that means a curated space to discover sapphic fiction without having to hunt for representation. For writers, it means a platform where you can publish freely and build a queer audience, alongside a publishing path when you're ready to go further.

Our Story

Saphly was founded by two writers who, for more than a decade, came up through online storytelling spaces. We know how many talented queer writers start there, and how few are given opportunities to grow beyond it. Saphly bridges that gap, offering a dedicated platform and a professional publishing path for writers from grassroots platforms and beyond, while holding onto the community spirit that made those spaces special in the first place.

How We Work

As a small team, we're able to stay closely involved in every project we take on—and because everything goes directly to the people running this, every piece of feedback is heard. We never want to lose sight of what this was built for, and that means the community will always be at the center of how we operate, including how we publish. Authors are treated as partners, readers are considered part of the conversation, and communication remains open at every stage.

How We Publish

Saphly operates as a traditional independent publisher. We acquire manuscripts we believe in, handle the entire production process—editing, design, marketing, and public relations—and bring finished books to readers at no cost to authors. Like all legitimate publishers, we earn by selling books, not by charging the people who write them.

Creative Community

The best creative journeys are shared ones. Beyond reading, we're actively building a dedicated space for writers and readers to come together, participate in daily writing sprints, book discussions, interactive games, and community activities. By bringing both sides of the literary equation together, we support creative momentum, meaningful conversations, and friendships that grow alongside stories.

Authentic
HumanStorytelling

Preserving the art of storytelling through voices that are truly human.

At Saphly, we are commited to authentic human creativity, firmly believing that every book should be a genuine expression of an author's voice and vision. We honor the tradition and integrity of publishing while supporting a healthier planet. For this reason, we do not use artificial intelligence at any stage of our publishing process.

From manuscript evaluation and editing to design, printing, and marketing, every step is carried out by people who bring experience, passion, and care to their work. This commitment also extends to the work we accept for publication, which does not include manuscripts created or significantly assisted by AI technologies. We want every story we publish to be written by an author drawing from their own experiences, imagination, and voice. The art of storytelling is fundamentally human and cannot be replicated by algorithms.

We're everywhere you love to read.

PrintingPractices

Protecting our planet through responsible print-on-demand manufacturing that minimizes waste.

Traditional offset printing usually requires large orders in anticipation of sales. Often, any books that go unsold are destroyed. This results in wasted paper, wasted energy, added greenhouse emissions, pulping, and landfill overflows. But we only have one Earth, and Lightning Source takes measures to treat it well. It expects environmental responsibility from its paper suppliers, and not to use papers sourced from endangered old growth forests, forests of exceptional conservation value, or the Amazon Basin.
